PENRY TO CU: FIRE CHURCHILL

State Representative Josh Penry issued the following
statement after a committee of faculty at the University of
Colorado found substantial evidence suggesting that Ward
Churchill was guilty of repeated and deliberate research
midconduct in relation to essays he wrote on various
Native American issues. The Committee was split on whether
Churchill should be fired.

Said Penry, "Ward Churchill is an embarrasment to the
University of Colorado and the entire State of Colorado.
This latest finding proves what many of us have long known:
Ward Churchill is a fraud.

"I have personally urged the University of Colorado to fire
Churchill. The University can take an enormous step in
salvaging its name by using this indictment to do what
should have been done long ago -- terminate Ward Churchill.

"The threat of a lawsuit shouldn't stop the University from
doing what needs to be done. The academic integrity of CU
is at stake. Ward Churchill should be cut off the public
dime and shown the unemployment line," Penry concluded.
